Aft Vs Forward On Cruise Ship
For starters there is nowhere on a ship more prone to movement than the front of a ship.
Aft vs forward on cruise ship. If seasickness is a worry beware. Similarities Between Aft and Regular Balcony Cabins Related. Forward-facing cabins also often lack balconies for reasons I will explain in a moment.

The most desirable location is a mid-ship stateroom or if not available a stateroom towards the back aft of the ship. Movement of the ship will be least midship and most forward but. Ill admit Im not a huge fan of forward-facing cabins.
Mid ship is slightly better. The movement in aft cabins is less drastic than in forward cabins but they do move. Not just for minimal rocking but I feel like the elevators and stairs on the Aft side of the ship are more convenient to venues I frequently visit such as the dining room buffet on most ships and the pool.
In nautical terms the bow or fore lies at the forward of the ship while the stern or aft is the rear portion. This minimizes confusion for anyone navigating any kind of vessel including a cruise ship. And forward is not too good IF any in your party are vulnerable to sea sickness.
The aft of a ship is the rear while the front of the ship is referred to as forward. Midship rooms lower on the ship are theoretically the best for minimizing motion. Forward also get vibration from the bow thrusters when docking which can be an issue during early morning arrivals.
