8217881 MMSI 311000343 is a Passenger Cruise Ship built in 1985 36 years old and currently sailing under the flag of Bahamas. Magellan was auctioned off for about 3 million as a consequence of CMVs bankruptcy and was quickly associated with SeaJets which however never made any official statement regarding it. The 46000-tonne vessel was operated by Cruise Maritime Voyages CMV.
UK cruise operator Cruise Maritime Voyages CMV launched a new holiday-class cruise ship named Magellan in March 2015 from the London Cruise Terminal in Tilbury. Launched in 1985 the Magellan was built for Carnival Cruise Line as Holiday. In service since 1985 the Magellan was built for Carnival Cruise Line as the Holiday.
The ship made a technical call in Gibraltar and later headed for the Suez Canal and finally Oman where it was speculated that it would become an accommodation vessel for workers under charter as-is. Under the name Mages the vessel is heading east to India where is expected to arrive at the end of the week. When the cruise giant Carnival Corp announced that no fewer than 18 relatively modern ships across its cruise brands were being disposed of the future for the aging CMV quintet looked bleak.
Delivered in January 2015 the vessel joined CMVs existing ocean fleet of adult-only ships Marco Polo Astor and Azores. All in all Cruise Maritime Voyages Magellan is a beautiful ship lovingly refurbished with beautifully large rooms and a comfortable decors that never feel garish or out of place. The ship was set to be renamed Jules Verne by CMV in 2021 as part of a new programme of sailings aimed at the French cruise market.
11 rows After CMV entered administration she was returned to Montepio her Lisbon-based owner. MS Magellan is a Holiday-class cruise ship which was formerly owned by Carnival Cruise Line as Holiday and Ibero Cruises as the Grand Holiday. CMV had a total of six ships in its fleet when it ceased trading in July 2020 and also had plans for two new ships to enter its service in 2021.
